IAI-TEPSA-THESEUS Pre-Presidency Conference 2014

"Priorities and Challenges of the 2014 Italian EU Presidency", 24 - 25 March 2014.

 

The Conference took place within the framework of the TEPSA Pre-Presidency Conference 2014 which was organised together with the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Commission Representation in Italy and Centro studi sul federalismo (CSF) in Rome.

The conference hosted academics, practitioners and policy-analysts and aimed to discuss major challenges for the Italian presidency of the Council of the European Union which takes place in the second half of 2014. Among the key issues were European economic governance and stimulation of job-creating growth, the Ukrainian crisis and the European neighbourhood policy, the prospects of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), reforming the EU immigration policy and the effectiveness and legitimacy of the EU leadership.

The discussions and analyses of the experts led to a list of recommendations in order to provide the Italian government with possible initiatives to advance the European integration process.
